Sarah brings enthusiasm, dedication, and a passion for cybersecurity to her role, making her an invaluable asset to the team. Let’s dive into her journey and learn more about her experiences and aspirations.
Interviewer: Thank you for joining us today, Sarah. Let’s start by learning a bit about your background. Can you tell us about your previous work experiences and how you ended up here at Novawatch?
Sarah: Sure! This is actually my first work experience. I graduated from Ramapo College with a degree in IT Management in the spring of 2022. During which, I was working as an intern remotely for MegaplanIT. I handled various tasks, including office management tasks and familiarizing myself with the company’s operations. Shortly after graduation, I moved from New York to Arizona to pursue my career in the cybersecurity industry. I was fortunate to land the position of Assistant Project Manager at Novawatch, which has been an exciting and fulfilling journey.
Interviewer: That sounds like a fantastic start to your career. Now let’s dive into your typical workday. As the Assistant Project Manager at Novawatch, what do your day-to-day components consist of?
Sarah: Most of my day is dedicated to client interactions. As the Assistant Project Manager, I am responsible for organizing and managing client data to ensure they receive all the contracted services they need. I have been heavily involved in providing support for the new Approved Scanning Vendor service and managing the live chat feature on our ASV portal. This includes providing advanced tech support and addressing any questions or concerns our clients might have. I manage ASV scans and track issues in the portal solution, working closely with the team to resolve any challenges that arise, quickly and efficiently. I also participate in client meetings. During these meetings, I actively record all relevant information to ensure we meet their requirements promptly and efficiently.
Interviewer: It’s evident that you have a diverse and vital role at Novawatch, involving a lot of client engagement. How do you envision your role evolving in the future?
Sarah: I see my role evolving by becoming more involved in the business processes and fostering transparency within the organization. With increased transparency, I believe I can take on more responsibilities and contribute further to the company’s growth and improvement.
Interviewer: Transparency is indeed crucial for fostering a successful work environment. Speaking of the work environment, how would you describe the culture here at Novawatch?
Sarah: The culture at Novawatch is fantastic! From day one, I felt comfortable and welcomed by everyone. There is a friendly and caring atmosphere. We all share a passion for our work and understand the significance of a synchronized community in cybersecurity, which makes working here truly enjoyable.
Interviewer: It’s wonderful to hear that you’ve found such a positive work environment. Moving on to your interests outside of work, what activities do you enjoy in your free time?
Sarah: Outside of work, I like to express my creative side through art, particularly painting and drawing. I’m also an avid gamer and enjoy playing first-person shooters and strategy games like Halo and Overwatch. Spending quality time with my family and friends is essential to me, and I also love exploring nature through hiking when the weather permits.
Interviewer: That sounds like a well-rounded set of hobbies. Given your role in cybersecurity, what does cybersecurity mean to you, and how would you like to see this industry grow in the future?
Sarah: Cybersecurity is of utmost importance in today’s digital age. Staying up to date on the constantly changing threats is crucial to protecting our clients’ businesses and their data. I believe that maintaining integrity for our clients and ensuring their safety should always be a top priority. As technology continues to advance, the cybersecurity industry must grow to adapt to emerging threats and challenges.
Interviewer: Thank you for highlighting the importance of cybersecurity for businesses. On a related note, what advice do you have for individuals regarding their own personal cybersecurity?
Sarah: My advice to the general public is to treat cybersecurity as seriously as securing their physical homes. Cyber threats can jeopardize one’s personal information and financial security. Staying informed and vigilant about potential risks is essential in safeguarding oneself against cyberattacks.
Interviewer: Excellent advice. Is there anything else you would like to share with us about your work or your experience at Novawatch?
Sarah: I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of Novawatch. The company’s dedication to its employees and clients is commendable, and I’m grateful to work with such amazing people. My passion for cybersecurity and the support of my colleagues make this job a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.
